    1 September 2025

Submission guidelines

  • Browse through the session list and decide a session/sessions most relevant to you.
  • When submitting your abstract, select a preferred session (obligatory) and a second choice (optional). Scientific committee reserves the right to relocate the submission to any session.
  • Your abstract should include title, author(s), affiliation(s) of author(s), and abstract text. These are input into separate fields in the submission form.
  • Write the abstract in clear, concise English. Tables or Figures are not allowed.
  • The length of the title should not exceed 180 characters.
  • The body text of your abstract should not exceed 3000 characters (including possible references). Note that the layout of the abstract has been optimized for 8 or fewer authors and/or affiliations. If the number of authors/affiliations in your submission exceeds this number, we strongly encourage you to take this into account in the length of the body text of your abstract. The total character count of your abstract (including also title, authors, and affiliations) should not exceed 4000 characters. You can test the length and layout of the abstract using this template (NOTE: this template is not intended for submission – submission will only take place via Oxford Abstracts webform, which will be opened here in the beginning of the submission period).
  • For the layout of the references, please follow the recommendations for the Bulletin of the Geological Society of Finland.
  • Only one presenting author allowed. The presenting author must register as a conference participant and pay the conference registration fee by the deadline. If the presenting author has not registered by that date, the abstract will be withdrawn from the programme. If the presenter changes, remember to inform aboaevents@certia.fi. Please note that all presentations take place on-site in Turku.
  • Please note that abstract acceptance correspondence will be sent to the submitter only, to the email used to sign in to the Oxford Abstracts system. Possible later correspondence will be sent to the presenting author (if different from the submitter). The presenter’s email is requested on the submission form.
  • NOTE: Only one oral presentation per corresponding author allowed (this limitation does not include the special educational sessions marked with an asterisk in the session list). Maximum two additional poster presentations allowed.

By submitting your abstract to NGWM 2026, you confirm that 1) the submission has been approved by all authors and agree that 2) the abstract and its content can be openly published in the conference app, the congress website, and later in the abstract volume. The abstract volume will be published on the website of the Geological Society of Finland under CC-BY-NC-4.0 license.
